By creating an account or using Grade 9 Science ("the site", "we", "us"), you agree to these terms.
Who can use the site
Grade 9 Science is a revision site for students preparing for AQA GCSE Combined Science. It is used by individual students and by schools, whose pupils and teachers get access through a school licence. You may use the site for revision and teaching only. You must not copy, share, resell or redistribute its content.
Accounts
Keep your login details private. You're responsible for what happens on your account. If you think someone else has used it, email hello@grade9science.com straight away.
School accounts
If you joined with a class code, your account is linked to your school. Your school's licence gives you full access for as long as it is active. Your teachers can see your progress (see the Privacy Policy below). If your school's licence ends, your account stays but full access stops.
Teachers
Teachers can create their own flashcards, quizzes and homework for pupils at their school. Teachers are responsible for anything they write, and must not include pupils' personal information in it.
Acceptable use
Don't try to access other people's accounts or data, interfere with the site, or use it to upload anything offensive or unlawful. We may suspend accounts that do.
Past purchases
We no longer sell individual access. Anyone who paid for full access in the past keeps it.
Content accuracy
All content is written to match the AQA GCSE Combined Science specification. We take care to get it right but can't guarantee it is error-free. If you spot a mistake, email us and we'll fix it.
Availability
We aim to keep the site running at all times but can't guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change or improve features at any time.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
This explains what we collect, why, who can see it and how to get it deleted. We've written it to be readable by the students who use the site.
Who is responsible for your data
If you signed up yourself, Grade 9 Science is responsible for your data (the "data controller").
If you joined through your school, your school is the data controller, and we process your data on the school's behalf under an agreement with them. You can contact either your school or us about it.
What we collect
We don't collect your address, phone number, date of birth or payment card details.
Who can see it
Why we use it (lawful basis)
To provide the site you signed up for, or that your school arranged for you. Analytics cookies are only used if you agree to them.
Children's privacy
Most of our users are aged 14 to 16, so we keep things simple and safe. We collect only what's needed, there are no adverts and no public profiles, analytics are off unless you turn them on, and only your own teachers can see your progress.

Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email hello@grade9science.com (if you joined through school, you can also ask your school). We'll reply within 30 days. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Schools buy an annual licence that gives every pupil full access and teachers a dashboard to track progress, set homework and spot gaps. For school licences, data processing agreements or data protection questions, email hello@grade9science.com.
Grade 9 Science no longer takes payments from individuals. If you paid for full access in the past, you still have it. Just log in as normal.
